Marguerite Vallon

Marguerite Sambola Vallon, a faithful Catholic, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 17, 2025. She was 98 years old. Marguerite was born in New Orleans on May 10, 1927, and was the fifth of six children born to the late Stanley L. Sambola, Sr. and Margaret Gleber Sambola. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Albert Joseph Vallon, Jr.

All who knew Marguerite and Albert, knew they were the love of each other's life. Together they ran a successful business, Vallon's Music Maison. Marguerite was devoted to helping others, especially the blind. She enjoyed family/ friend gatherings, sewing, crocheting, playing games, trips with family and friends, watching the Tigers play on Saturday night, and Sunday night dances at the Jefferson Orleans.

Marguerite is survived by her loving children, Marilyn Vallon Hotard, A.J. Vallon, III (Lee Ramsey Vallon), five grandchildren, Alan Hotard, Caroline Hotard Kirkpatrick, Alexandra Vallon Herrin (James), A.J. Vallon, IV (Coral), Sarah Vallon, and seven great grandchildren, Rex Hotard, Neil Kirkpatrick, Wesley Kirkpatrick, Mackenzie Kirkpatrick, Baylor Vallon, Hudson Herrin, and Palmer Vallon. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Leola Carmichael, Stanley Sambola, Jr., Edna Skidmore, Robert Sambola, and J. Raymond Sambola.

Marguerite's family would like to thank all the women who befriended, cared for, and loved her in her final years of life, especially Felicia (who she called her angel). We are forever grateful to God for you.

Services will be held at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 on Friday, August 22, 2025. Visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Catholic Mass will begin at 1:00 pm with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the St. Anthony poor box in any Catholic Church. And when you go to church, please light a candle and say a prayer for Marguerite.
