SAMUEL VALLON Obituary Samuel Gordon Vallon was born on May 20, 1999, at Port St Lucie Hospital to his parents, Farnese and Mona Vallon. His birth was the best thing that happened to his sister, Marnelle Esther. She introduced him as, "This is my baby brother, his name is Sammy" wherever she went. He was named Sammy from that time.
Sammy was a born-leader and a born business minded young man. His leadership and organizational skills have been evident since he was 3 years old. Sammy has always been resilient, tough and a man of character. Sammy attended Seventh-day Adventist Christian Schools until he graduated college in 2021. He made an impact at James E Sampson Memorial School (J.E.S) in Fort Pierce, during his Kindergarten year, when he attempted to rip a 1-dollar bill in half so both he and his sister could each have 50 cents. At Palm Beach Bilingual Junior Academy, now Bethel Junior Academy, he was known for his academic excellence and as a food-lover.
Sammy attended Miami Union Academy from 6th to 12th grade and is recognized for his talent in music, band and academic excellence. At MUA, he developed his entrepreneurial skills. He started a business with 20 dollars selling chips during recess. Within a few months, the 20 dollars became 300 dollars. At the beginning of his senior year, Sammy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (AML). This diagnosis changed the course of his life until his passing at the age of 25, but it did not stop him from accomplishing his dreams. Despite frequent hospitalization and a rigorous chemotherapy regimen, Sammy graduated with high honors from the MUA class of 2017. (Praise God!) He then matriculated to AdventHealth University, (AHU) while continuing with his chemotherapy treatment.
Sammy, again, graduated with a Bachelor in Biomedical Science, one of the most rigorous programs at AHU. His family was pleased to attend his graduation in 2021, during COVID. God did it again. In 2022, Sammy was studying for his MCAT to enter Medical School, however on January 31, 2022, the Leukemia returned, and he was forced to take a pause from his dream to restart treatment ASAP. He then matriculated to the University of Central Florida (UCF) to study Business while going through chemotherapy, Bone Marrow Transplant, and multiple hospitalizations. He was also studying to take his PACAT to enter the Physician Assistant School.
Sammy was an innate poet. He started writing in 10th grade. He left home to go to college in Orlando with 8 composition books filled with poetry. He founded Poetry Not Dead (PND) a platform that provided opportunities for him to recite his poems in churches and other venues as spoken words. His parents hope to publish his poems someday.
Sammy was baptized in the Seventh-Day Adventist church at 10 years old per his constant request. When he received news that he was cancer free, he rededicated his life to Christ through re-baptism at Morija SDA church in Margate in October 2023.
Sammy applied to Andrews University Theological Seminary in January 2024 to become a motivational speaker, mentor, to minister to his fellow youth and young adults who are going through tough times. His mother rejoiced when she read an emailed response from Andrews Theological Seminary regarding his application. Sammy made it clear that he did not want to be a pastor, he wanted to be a doctor and a motivational Speaker for the youth and young adults. Sammy reiterated on many occasions that his dream was to become a physician and to give back to the Haitian community.
