Maria L. Creeden

Maria L. Creeden, 63, of Lawrence Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Millville to the late Edward J. Chmelewski and Jane P. (DeTora) Chmelewski, she was the wife of the late Wayne J. Creeden. Maria had been a resident of Cedarville for over 25 years and prior to that she had resided in Millville.
After Maria retired from her two decade-long (plus) career as a warehouse supervisor at T-Fal, she took up driving bus for the Sheppard Bus Co.. She enjoyed every day she spent shuttling the kids to and from school. In her spare time she also enjoyed helping arrange and deliver flowers for Colonial Flowers. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge Millville #2488 and the Millville Eagles Aerie #1836.
Maria was very proud of her garden which featured fresh vegetables and herbs, and especially loved her tomatoes and cucumbers which she used to make homemade pickles. When she was not gardening she spent her time fishing, hunting, kayaking, and camping/traveling in her RV. But what made her most happy was throwing parties for friends and family where she always cooked way too much food. Anyone who knew Maria knew she was quite the trickster and never passed up the opportunity to play a practical joke.
She is survived by; her children, Gretchen (Hund) Schwartz (Zak) of Cupertino, CA and Jason C. Hund (Christine) of Millville; her grandson, Silas Schwartz; siblings, Nancy Woller of Mauricetown; Kathleen "Kathy" Chmelewski (George) of Indiana, Edward Chmelewski of Maryland and Michael Chmelewski (Cynthia) of West Chester, PA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, and her beloved dogs Coco & Trixie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; her siblings, Patricia Phillips, Pamela Mehta, Mary Wheaton and Tommy Chmelewski; her nephew, Sanjay Mehta, and her niece, Jennifer "Jenny" Wheaton.
A celebration of life will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter.
