Marie L. Moore February 2, 1926 – September 25, 2025
San Antonio, TX It is with deep sorrow and steadfast hope in God that we announce the passing of Marie L. Moore, who lived a beautiful and blessed life for 99 years and entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2025. She was called home to the Lord before her family could arrive, but she passed peacefully with her nurse by her side, and with the love of her family close to her heart. Born on February 2, 1926 in Boerne, TX, Marie lived a life marked by faith, love, and service. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Helotes and Prince of Peace Catholic Churches for much of her life and was actively involved with the Prince of Peace choir for many years. Marie was known for her deep love of art, gardening, and music-a creative spirit rooted in beauty and joy. A devout Catholic, Marie drew peace and strength from her daily Rosary prayers, anchoring her days in faith and quiet reflection. Yet she also carried a spirited joy, never missing a chance to cheer on her beloved Cowboys and Spurs, her enthusiasm as enduring as her devotion. In her later years, Marie embraced life at her nursing home, delighting in crafts, Bingo, and the simple pleasures of community. Time only enhanced her elegance; her presence radiated a quiet light that warmed every heart around her. Marie was one of ten siblings and is survived by two of them (James Exparza and Genevieve Shappet). Her legacy lives on through her two beloved daughters, Tamara Alonzo and Rose Ortiz (Cesar); five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Tijerina (Jacob), Edward "Manuel" Alonzo III (Michelle), Cesar Ortiz (Anna), Brittany Castro (Dustin), and Veronica Mabry (Jason); and twelve treasured great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Her love extended even to the family's four-legged companions-grand and great-grand dogs alike-who were always met with a gentle hand and a warm smile. Though we mourn, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and the hope that we will be reunited again. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the compassionate staff of Bristol Hospice, especially Colene, Marie's longtime and loving nurse, whose gentle care and presence brought comfort and peace, especially in her final moments. We are also profoundly grateful to the dedicated team at the Windemere Nursing Home, with special appreciation for Donna, the activities director, who filled Marie's days with joy through the crafts she so dearly loved. Your kindness and devotion made a lasting impact, and we will always remember the grace with which you cared for her. A visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North (Cherry Ridge) on Monday, October 6, 2025, 5 – 8 pm with a Rosary beginning at 6 pm. A celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (Helotes) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11 am. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association (
Alzheimer's Association | Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Help) in Marie's memory.
