Maria Amparo Nunez

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother,Maria Amparo Siliezar Tellez Nunez, age 89. She peacefully went to be with ourHeavenly Father on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones in herCarmichael home.Maria was born on February 23, 1936 to Rosendo Siliezar and Juana Tellez inGuatemala City. She was the beloved sister of Juan Luis Tellez Hernandez, DavidSiliezar Tellez, and Jose Angel Siliezar Tellez. She shared the same birthday withher second oldest brother. Maria was lovingly nicknamed, “Chita” as she was thelittle girl of the family.Through the encouragement of her mother Maria came to America as a youngtwenty year old. She was proud the day she became a US citizen on February 16,1994. Maria was a devout Catholic and raised her children in the church. She was adevoted mother of five always making her children top priority. She supportedthem in all areas of their lives making sure to attend all of their sporting events.Maria was a survivor that overcame many obstacles throughout her lifetime withthe support of her three special and dear friends Reba Light, Ada Duner and MelvaRay. Riding the bus to Lake Tahoe with her friend, May Tinley, was always outingsthat she looked forward to with excitement. She was a big time Sacramento Kingsfan. She loved bowling and played on a women’s bowling league team. For thirty-six years she was a dedicated employee of San Juan Unified School District as a ChildDevelopment Assistant at Marvin Marshall School as well as being a noon aide. Sheloved her job working with the children and often walked to and from workenjoying the fresh air and exercise. After retirement she continued to work part-time as a substitute for the district.Maria is survived by four of her children Edward Nunez (Christie), Mark Nunez(Paula), John Nunez (Rachele) and Joanna Misajon (Dean), sixteen grandchildren,twenty-two great-grandchildren, brother David Siliezar Tellez (Blanca), andnumerous nieces and nephews. Maria is preceded in death by her son AndrewNunez, grandson Chad Nunez, her parents, and brothers Juan Luis Tellez Hernandez(Letty) and Jose Angel Siliezar Tellez (Zoila).Our loving mother will be deeply missed, forever loved and always remembered asthe mother that provided and sacrificed for her family. She would always say, “Godbless you mijo/mija” followed by “Hasta La Vista Baby”, which will forever be etchedin our hearts. Maria was truly the matriarch of the Nunez family.Family, friends and others whose lives Maria touched are invited to Our Lady of theAssumption Catholic Church at 5057 Cottage Way in Carmichael, California onFriday, June 20, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. to celebrate her life.
