Maria C. Ramirez, 80, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2025, in Dimmitt, surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend David Contreras, Deacon John Nino, and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. A family and friend visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 1:00 -7:00 PM at the funeral home with a Rosary/Vigil service beginning at 5:30 PM.

Maria was born on January 21, 1945, in Alice, Texas, to Elias and Julia (Cantu) Ochoa. Maria was married to Sam Ramirez for twenty-nine years. She worked as an assistant cook for a Senior Retirement Home in Austin, Texas, for 20 years before returning to her hometown of Dimmitt for retirement.

Maria enjoyed yard work, walking, and sitting outside to admire the beautiful sunset. She loved hanging around with her best friend, Rachel Fuentes, and Perrito Zues.

Those left to cherish her memories are her five children, Sammy Ramirez and wife Dorothy Ramirez, Christina Luna and husband Noah Olivas, Rosa Jimenez and husband Daniel Jimenez, Irene Barrera and husband Victor Barrera, Rachel Herrera and husband Jesus Herrera; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Alicio Olivarez of Edinburg, Texas and Daniel Cantu of Earth, Texas; best friend Rachel Fuentes, and loving caregiver Pascula (Betty) Martinez.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Julia Cantu, and brother Felipe Cantu.
