Marian Patricia Allen Landers, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.
Patsy, as she was always known, was the very first baby to be born in 1935 at Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, SC. She was a daughter of the late Henry Lee Allen and the late Lucy Daniel Allen. She was married to Horace O'Neal Landers for 45 years until his death in 1999.
She graduated from Girl's High School; Class of 1952. Patsy was extremely outgoing and friendly. She loved her friends dearly and lived each day to the absolute fullest. She had a beautiful voice and sang like an angel. In her teen years, Patsy had her own radio show on WANS. The United States Air Force sponsored her weekly radio show. Dancing was a favorite hobby, as well as singing, particularly SC's state dance, the Shag. She was a member of the Electric City Shag Club and the Red Hat Society. She was also a faithful member of Covenant Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Dawn Landers Copeland (Stan), Tina Landers Brown (Barney) and Horace O'Neal "Neal" Landers, Jr. (Andrea); sister, Nancy Allen Ashburn; grandchildren, Shelley Tidwell, James Burgess, Jr., Lander Isbell, Tyler Brown, Kody McKinley, and Jordan Hooper; and great grandchildren, Carson, Delilah, Tanner, Adelyn, Jennings, Maddox, Journi, and Jayli.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 12 noon - 1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. During this time, her favorite music by the Christian Singers Quartet of which her husband was a member, will be played. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Steve Silvey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC.
The family will be at the residence.
