Marianne Pflanz
6/1/1934 – 1/11/2023
Marianne Pflanz (June 1, 1934 – January 11, 2023), formerly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at Gold Choice Memory Care in Palm Coast surrounded by a loving family. Born in Warsaw, Poland, she is predeceased by her sons Richard Kachnycz and Sean McDermott, sisters Susanne Florian and Helina Huges, and parents Marianna and Alexander Podlaszewski.
She is survived by her sister Angela Stanton, brother Edward Podlaszewski, children Eric and Amour Kachnycz, Valerie Bourbour, and Renee Garrett. Marianne's extensive family includes grandchildren Jeremie, Bejan, Armein, Jasmine, David, Adrian, Amber, Aaron, Patrick, Elliott, Lacey, Katie, Cass, Richie, and Carly along with a growing entourage of great-grandchildren.
Marianne married and settled in Kensington, a borough of Philadelphia where her free spirit began to blossom with a multitude of diverse and eclectic activities and certifications. She had a no holds bar attitude and felt no hurdles in terms of stereotypical barriers. Being the only woman in a taekwondo class in lower northeast Philly, she soon established a blackbelt through personal persistence.
Shortly afterwards, she moved to Tacony, the northeast borough, where she bore four children Valerie Bourbour, Richard Kachnycz, Eric Kachnycz, Renee Garrett, and Sean McDermott. All children received the benefactors of a solid Catholic education while mom pursued various creative hobbies and crafts. She was quick to design new patterns for whimsical talented visions that were always manifesting in her mind such as full-size whales that were used as futons for sleeping or watching TV. During this time, she received cosmetology certification which promoted more creative interaction with customers. She later moved to Bucks County PA where her love of gardening transpired through the riches of fertile soil. She brought this love to Florida and was awarded the Florida Native Plant Award for a home garden where she spent many delightful hours caring and planting.
In our Florida community, Marianne was a tailor that was well-known in the area. She also held certifications in Reiki healing, CNA, and creative writing that fueled her passion for perpetual learning. Jules Renard once said, "I am never bored, to be bored is an insult to oneself." Mom was consistently engaged in one activity or another that stirred her passions. This mentorship influenced a love of adventure for all which will remain in our hearts forever.
