Maribeth Gatterdam, 71, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023, with her family by her side after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 2022.
She was born on March 26, 1952, in Woburn, MA, one of ten children to the late Thomas Sheeran and Mary Gnau Sheeran. Her siblings, Tom and Eddy Sheeran and Lisa Smith (Eddie Smith) precede her in death.
Maribeth was a bookkeeper for NAPA for over 25 years and was a Catholic by faith. She was passionate about health and fitness, training and running marathons including the Louisville Marathon which qualified her for the Boston Marathon, leading her back to Woburn, MA to run there.
Maribeth and her husband Fred loved to travel, visiting various places, however the beach and the lake house were her favorites. Soaking up the sun with her feet in the sand and treasuring the memories made along the way, especially with her grandkids.
Maribeth is survived by her husband of 47 years, Fred D.; children, Abby Hobbs (Chris), Jessie Gatterdam and Chris Gatterdam (Ashley); six grandchildren, Stephen and Madeline Hobbs; Mason and Wesley Gatterdam; and Rylee and Charley Gatterdam. She is also survived by her siblings, Jenny McDowell (Dave), Paul Sheeran (Kathy), Winnie Deye (Jeff), Nonie Paulson (Scott), Sheila Ash (Dave), Stephanie Alexander (Chip) and sister-in-law, Helene Sheeran.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews followed by burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-5 pm. On Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts in the form of contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Maribeth's name.
