Marie Conlogue
May 25, 1921- April 23, 2024
WATERVILLE - Marie Conlogue (Michaud) passed away peacefully in her home at age 102.
Marie was born on May 25th in
Frenchville, Maine to Belone & Clara (Paradis) Michaud. Marie was raised and attended school in
Madawaska, Maine.
In 1940 Marie married Frederick L. Conlogue Sr. They raised 3 children in the county and moved to Waterville in 1960. Marie enjoyed being an attentive homemaker and caregiver for her family.
Marie was an honorary member of the Waterville Area Garden Club for 30 years. Her gardens and flower beds were abundant and beautiful. She took great pride in her home, inside and out, especially in her flowers. Neighbors and strangers would always stop by to ask her questions about her gardens and to admire her hard work and fierce dedication, which landed her several pictures in the local newspaper. She also had a large raspberry patch where you could find her picking at sunrise every morning of the season. Other times she could be found in the kitchen making sure that everyone was fed and taken care of. Throughout her lifetime she has taken care of so many people and provided much wisdom, guidance, and love.
She had a sense of humor and wit that could not be matched. Her fierce independence, beliefs, and perseverance were a blessing, most of the time. Her good clean living and hard work kept her in this world for 102 years.
Marie was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church.
She is predeceased by her parents, brothers Phillip & Louis, and her loving sister, Sister Marie Alvine of the Ursuline Sisters, her son Jonathan Conlogue, and daughter Elizabeth Wacome.
She is survived by her loving granddaughters, Kerish Benttinen and Kelley Fadden, and their spouses (Carl Benttinen and Edward Fadden), who all took great care of her. Kerish was her biggest supporter, problem solver, and caregiver. Her son Frederick Conlogue Jr and his wife Mary of Arizona. 5 other grandchildren: Frederick Conlogue III, Michael Conlogue, Ryan Conlogue, Daniel Conlogue, and Kevin Conlogue. 13 great-grandchildren: Brooke Benttinen, who Marie held close to her heart as she helped to raise her for 15 years. Briley and Blake Fadden were also a part of her life in a very special way, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She will be severely missed by her special friends: David Oliver, Deborah Neilson, Harold Poirier, Gloria Stubbert, and Virginia Merritt.
She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.
A Catholic burial will be held at 10 AM on April 30 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue,
Augusta, Maine 04330.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 16th, 10:00 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver St. Waterville. A small gathering will follow at the church hall to share stories and memories.
