Marie Davis

Patsy "Marie" Davis, age 83, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the home of her sister and her family after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on November 4, 1942, Marie was the daughter of the late Reuben Morris Tant and Annie Irene Tant (formerly McDaniel). In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband James Thomas "Tommy" Davis, who passed on February 22, 2014; her brother and his wife, James and Alene Tant; a sister and her husband, Annie Jo and Fred Turner; her stepmother, Irene Lee Tant; and two infant brothers.

Survivors include her sister & her husband Lee Ann & Scott Simpson and 2 very special nephews Parker & Conner Simpson, and numerous nieces, cousins, and extended family members.

Marie married the love of her life, Tommy, on April 6, 1968. She worked at Berry College for many years in food service and retired in May of 2003. She was a member of the Mt. Alto Baptist Church, a member of American Legion Post #52, was a lifetime member of Rome Shrine Ladies, and was a former member of Etowah Eastern Star.

Marie loved her family dearly and had a special place in her heart for her nephews who she lovingly called "my boys." They were the light of her life.

She also enjoyed going to church when she was able, reading cookbooks and her bible, and enjoyed cooking for her loved ones.

Marie's family would like to thank Heyman Hospice Care for all the care and love given to her during this difficult time. All of Marie's caregivers were wonderful but they want to extend a special thank you to Bettina Spillman & Lisa McKinney who loved her like their own. The family would also like to thank all of Marie's friends and extended family that have prayed for them during this time, and the Sunshine Ladies at Mt. Alto Baptist Church for all their love and support.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Dr. Phil Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 10:30am on Monday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, and include Scott Simpson, Parker Simpson, Conner Simpson, Mark Simpson, Craig McDaniel and Wayne Comer.

Flowers will be accepted but in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Heyman Hospice Care, Attn: Rebecca Broome, 420 E 2nd Ave., Suite 103, Rome GA 30161.
