Marie Theresa Gift

Marie T. Gift of Philadelphia peacefully passed away on June 16, 2025. She was born on August 9, 1938, in Philadelphia to late William and Alice (Gilson) McDonald.
Marie was the devoted mother to Marie Donnelly (Ronald), Deborah Kappler (Richard), Dorris Ancheta (the late William), James III, John, Alice Steen (Leonard), Leonard (Leann), Lisa Bowie (James) and Stephen; loving grandmom/nanny to 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren...and a great granddaughter to-be. She is also survived by her dear brother, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, James Edward Gift, Jr., two brothers, William and James McDonald, two sisters, Alice Halbe and Anne Kane and her grandson, Nicholas Steen.
Marie loved spending time with her family, of whom she was very proud, as well as, her many friends. She was active in several Senior Organizations and a member of the Philadelphia FOP Lodge 5 Auxiliary. She enjoyed sudoku, playing bingo, attending local theater performances, having her friends over for dinner and going on her many senior excursions.
Family and friends are invited to Marie's Life Celebration on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 10:30am-12:00pm at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Road, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Her Funeral Mass will follow at noon.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's memory can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
