Marie F. McMahon, a lifelong resident of White Plains passed away November 25, 2023 with her family by her side. Marie was born July 21, 1940 in White Plains to the late Frank and Marie G. (nee Tracy) McMahon.
She was educated in White Plains and attended St. Bernard's Grammar School and St. John the Evangelist High School. She then attended Mount Aloysius Junior College in Pennsylvania. After college Marie decided to follow in her father's footsteps and join the family business. She graduated from the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in 1974.
Her involvements in our community include the White Plains Women's Club, the White Plains Beautification Foundation, the Good Counsel Women's Guild, White Plains Hospital, Hospice of Westchester and Peace Outside Campus. She was also a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
In 2009 Marie was Grand Marshal of the White Plains St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Marie is survived by her sister Anne (John) Meltzer of White Plains, her nieces and nephews; Kathy (Tim) Buckley, Carly (Anthony) D'Arpino, Sarah (Steve) Tulotta, Kevin (Lisa) Amodio, Katie Amodio (fiancé Jack Courage), and Bob (Wendy) Harnaga, her great nieces and nephews; Megan, Molly, and Ryan Harnaga, Timmy, and Quinn D'Arpino, Lauren and Liam Buckley, Jackson Tulotta, and Angelo Amodio, and her brother-in-law Frank Amodio. She is also survived by many cousins near and far.
Besides her parents Marie is predeceased by her sister Jean Amodio and her niece Tracy Harnaga.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Marie's memory to the Jean McMahon Amodio Scholarship Fund at Archbishop Stepinac High School www.stepinac.org/
