In Loving Memory of Marie Therese Megill (née Garraty), 91 Beloved Wife, Mother, Nurse, and Devout Catholic
With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Marie Therese Megill, who departed this life on July 8, 2025, at the age of 91. She faced a long journey with a condition that slowly took her memories but never her spirit. Through it all, she fought with quiet strength and grace. She now rests peacefully in the arms of her loving Savior and is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Thomas Megill, whom she missed dearly.
Born on May 30, 1934, Marie dedicated her life to serving others. A proud graduate of Villanova University, she pursued a lifelong career as a registered nurse, with a special calling to care for the elderly at Saunders House, where she served for over 30 years. Her compassionate spirit, skilled hands, and gentle presence brought peace to countless patients and families.
A devoted caregiver both professionally and personally, Marie extended her care far beyond the walls of the nursing facility—tirelessly tending to family, neighbors, and friends. Even as her own health declined, she continued to comfort those around her. Her compassion never wavered, and her presence remained a steady source of comfort and love.
Above all, Marie was a devoted mother to four daughters—Colette Johnston, Mary Lynn Soulas, Peggy Preuhs Medici, and Kathy Dougherty—along with 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who were the joy and center of her life.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of all she did. Marie was a faithful member of the Legion of Mary and a dedicated parish volunteer. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 15, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, Viewing 9:00am; 10:30 Mass followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
