Marilyn Kay (Rogers) Belcher, 86, passed peacefully in to God's loving hands on Thursday, August 21, 2025, while surrounded by family. Memorial services will take place Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Steed-Todd Funeral Home, 800 East Manana in Clovis.
Marilyn entered this world on May 25, 1939 to proud parents Temple and Vera (Davis) Rogers. She worked on the family farm, drove a school bus at 17, and graduated from Elida High School. After graduation, she went on to ENMU, where she met her future husband, Bennette Belcher, US Air Force. Their first duty station was in Japan, where their first child was born. Through the years they would eventually have five children, which would explain her wicked sense of humor. Marilyn never lost her love for travel and packed her bags whenever she could. She was happy whether she was traveling internationally or just down the road to watch a grandchild play ball, in a program, or graduate.
Marilyn's two loves in life were family and books. As the kids grew, Marilyn began working at the library in Elida, and it became a passion. She continued working with the public and her books for the rest of her career, first at Abo Elementary in Artesia, and then a final 25 years at the Clovis Carver Public Library, before retiring as Head Librarian. As Head Librarian, she oversaw the move into the "new" building on Main Street, as well as the computerizing of the cataloging system. She also brought computers into the library for the public to use. She was instrumental in several individuals beginning their careers in Library Science.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Luther, a daughter, Michelle Jefferson, and a son-in-law, Dale Williams.
She is survived by a son, Brad Belcher and his wife Melissa of Clovis, and two daughters, Sandra Tigert and her husband Steve of Artesia, and Nancy Castillo and her husband, Roger of Roswell. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Jo Ann Belcher of Amarillo, a brother Dale Rogers and his wife Lauralee of Roswell, sister Annelle Pruet of Clovis and brother Charlie Rogers and his wife Nancy of Clovis. Marilyn was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was never happier than when she had a child in her lap.
