Marilyn "Sue" Cowsert

Marilyn Sue Cowsert, known to most as Sue, passed away on June 8, 2025 at 79 years of age surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born August 29, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri the seventh child of the late Clarence and Annabel (Hanson) Randolph.
On February 10, 1964 she was united in marriage to James Edward Cowsert. They were blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage when he preceded her in death on March 9, 2021. Sue is survived by their daughter, Debbie Reynolds and her husband, Mark of Ironton, Missouri. She is also survived by her three granddaughters: Anna Reynolds (Dane) of Ironton, Missouri, Renee Reissing (Adam) of Farmington, Missouri and Rachel Warner (Ethan) of Lesterville, Missouri. Three great grandchildren are left to miss their MiMi: Adalynn Reynolds and Reynlee and Rayze Warner.
Sue is survived by her brother, James Spencer (Sharon) Randolph of Middlebrook, Missouri, her half-brother, Max Randolph (Kim) of Arcadia, Missouri, and three sisters: Betty Rothlisberger of Pilot Knob, Sylvia Walton of Belleview, and Teresa Land (Grey) of Macon, Mississippi. Her sister-in-law, Mildred Randolph also survives as do many other family members and friends. Sue was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald "Duck" Randolph and John Randolph and three sisters: Ila Jean Wigger, Anita Randolph, and Bonnie Fischer, and her brother-in-law, Allen Rothlisberger.
Sue was a graduate of Ironton High School. She attended the Crossroads House of Prayer. Sue served on the zoning committee for the City of Pilot Knob. Spring and Fall were her favorite seasons, and she loved to garden, peonies were her favorite. She liked to read and go shopping. She was a baseball and football fan, always cheering for her favorite teams. Most important of all was her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She liked to make sure that everyone had a good meal. She was known for her chicken and dumplings, strawberry shortcake, fried chicken, and homemade gravy. She could sew and fix just about anything in any amount of time (emergency sewing needs did not rattle her – "Just bring it on over.") She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sue will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
