Funeral services for Miss Marilyn Hawkins of Wrightsville, Georgia, will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 1 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church, 133 East Trilby Street in Wrightsville. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.

Born in 1956 in Wrightsville, Georgia, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of the late Sammie Lee Hawkins, Sr. and Emmie Brint Hawkins. She was a proud graduate of Dock Kemp High School and went on to further her education at Fort Valley State College (Fort Valley State University) and obtained her bachelor's degree in education.

At an early age, Marilyn professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Lester Linder. Her faith became the foundation of her life of service.

Marilyn began her career as a Home Economics teacher at Johnson County High School, where she inspired and nurtured many students. While she loved teaching, her passion for helping others led her to return to Middle Georgia College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She became a Nurse and dedicated her career to caring for others with compassion and excellence, serving faithfully at Fairview Park Hospital and at the Dublin Veterans Administration Center.

She was known for her gentle spirit, her generosity, and her love for life. Marilyn enjoyed cooking, purchasing jewelry and kitchen gadgets, and finding treasures on QVC. More than anything, she cherished her family and friends, pouring love and laughter into the lives of those around her.

Marilyn passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 69.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie and Emmie Hawkins, Sr.; her brothers, Rev. Sammie Lee Hawkins, Jr. and Garret Hawkins; her sister, Barbara Gene Hawkins; and her nephew, Cedric Jamal Hawkins.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her two sisters, Debra (Michael) Craig of Wrightsville, GA, and Reneida (Jason) Williams of Forsyth, GA; her brother, Randall Hawkins of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews: Nakia (Patrick) Evans, Kevin (Allie) Hawkins, Trevor Hawkins, Halel Williams, Valarie Searcy, Ebony Searcy, and Faye Hawkins; aunts and uncles: Doretha Brint, Dessie Wright of Wrightsville, GA, Eula Mae Hawkins of Dublin, GA, and Richard Brint of Wrightsville, GA; her goddaughter, O'Sheta "Nikki" Harris of Fort Valley, GA; special friends, Irene Giles, Sandy Pierce Taylor, and Ethel Wright; along with a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
