Marilyn F. Rankin, 99, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Marilyn F. Rankin was born on April 28, 1926 to Ralph and Hazel (Thomas) Hamilton in Bagley, Wisconsin. She was a 1943 graduate of Bagley High School and attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque. She was a homemaker and office worker before retiring from the Jackson County Auditor's Office in 1989.
She married Jim Rankin at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa in 1957. She loved quilting, playing cards, and in her younger years playing golf. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she had served as Financial Secretary, Treasurer, was on the Board of Trustees, and additionally was a member of the Town and Country Quilters. She also was a volunteer quilter at the Jackson County Senior Center and mentored at Cardinal Elementary School for several years.
Those left to honor her memory include 2 granddaughters, Kelly Marshall, and Jami (Mike) Coppess of Clinton, IA; 3 great-granddaughters; 1 step-great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Joy Rankin of Boone, IA; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son David, and a sister Margaret Johnson.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
