Marilynn Trinder, age 92, of Peoria, passed away at 1:34 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at John C. Proctor Endowment Home.
She was born Marth Marilynn Trinder to Bernard and Hazel Viola (Churchill) Trinder on January 3, 1933 in Peoria.
Marilynn attended St. Mary's Cathedral School and was a 1951 graduate of the Academy of Our Lady. She was involved in music most of her life as a singer. Marilynn began singing with Freddie Stevens Orchestra in the Peoria area when she was just 15 years old. After high school she attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics degree in 1955. In college Marilynn sang with Purdue Musical Organizations as a soloist with the Purduettes. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Marilynn worked as an interior designer at Block and Kuhl Co. in Peoria. In the late 1950's she began a 30-year teaching career. She first taught kindergarten at Holy Family School and then completed her teaching career at Hines School in District 150 teaching primary grades until her retirement in 1989.
She was interested in historic preservation in Peoria and in her own neighborhood, the Randolph Roanoke Historic District. Through the years Marilynn enjoyed gardening and volunteering at Sacred Heart Church where she kept parish records. She was a cantor for weekend masses at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center Chapel. Marilynn was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority and Peoria Women's Civic Federation.
At age 81 Marilynn created a program on DVD in which she talked about her parent's careers in show business and in vaudeville. She was talked of her own musical career as she sang a few songs appropriate to the era.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents and one Cousin Beverly A. Churchill.
She is survived by several cousins: Robert Churchill, and William Churchill, Rosemary Churchill and Ruth Churchill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a visitation 30 minutes prior to mass. Father William Miller will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria.
The family of Marilynn would like to thank John C. Proctor Endowment Home for all the love and care of Marilynn over the years.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials in Marilynn's memory may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a charity or the donor's choosing, or John C. Proctor Endowment Home.
