Marilynn R. Walters, 83, a resident of Mundelein, IL, passed away September 13, 2025 at her home. She was born October 8, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Anne Roelle.
Marilynn was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Round Lake, IL, Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Grayslake, IL, and the Grayslake Lions Club. She taught for 32 years primarily at Gurnee School District 56, where she was involved in the music program. She began playing the church organ at age 12 and continued until the church closed. Marilynn spent many years singing and playing piano in various bands. She and Rich traveled the world visiting all 7 continents. She was also involved in various volunteer organizations. Gatherings with her family and friends gave her great joy.
Marilynn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Walters, whom she wed on May 13, 1961 in Dubuque, IA, her children Deanna (Edwin) Brown of Grayslake, IL, Melissa (David) Fularczyk of Greenfield, WI, and Richard (Hailey) Walters of Janesville, WI, her grandchildren Marissa (Lauren) Brown, Josette Brown, Brendan (Allison) Walters, Colin Walters, Kristin Walters, Evan Walters, Adam Fularczyk, Kaitlynn Fularczyk, Matthew Fularczyk, Brianna Stocks, Brayden Stocks, and Macey Walters, and her great-granddaughter Dallas Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Anne Roelle, her brother Dr. Robert J. (Renee) Roelle, and her grandson Derrick Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Wilwood Presbyterian Church 18630 West Old Gages Lake Road Grayslake, IL 60030 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wildwood Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
