Marion T. Coughlan (Cox), a longtime resident of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2025, at the age of 99. She was born in Boston on May 3rd, 1926, to the late Ambrose J. and Julia A. Cox (Eifler).
Marion grew up in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School Class of 1944.
Marion married her beloved husband, William, in 1952 and cultivated countless fond memories with him until he passed in 2000. She began a career at Linde, a medical supply company, before taking a break from the workforce to raise her family for 25 years. After her children had grown, she worked at John Hancock until her retirement in 1991.
A devoted mother and faithful woman, Marion raised her family in Weymouth and was a daily churchgoer. She was an active member of the 9 O’Clockers church group and enjoyed bingo, traveling the world, and spending time with her loved ones. Marion was always ready for her next adventure, especially when it meant traveling with family or friends.
Marion was predeceased by her husband William Coughlan. She is survived by her loving children Stephen W. Coughlan and his wife Catherine Jo Butler of Amherst, NH; Mark J. Coughlan and his wife Claire of Weymouth; David A. Coughlan of Mansfield; Kathleen M. Stack and her husband John of South Boston; Ann M. Brow and her husband James of Weymouth; Ellen M. Guarino and her husband Joseph of Woburn; and Julie M. Klinger and her husband John of Sudbury. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Eileen R. Porter, Claire L. Cox, Eleanor M. Cox, Edna A. Cox, Mary L. Cox, and Thomas A. Cox.
Family and friends are respectfully invited for a visitation for Marion in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home from 4 - 7PM on Tuesday, November 11th. Family and friends will gather in the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9AM for a brief Celebration of Life reflection before driving in procession to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Funeral Mass at 10AM. Burial will immediately follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
