It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Leon Goins, affectionately known as "Porky" or "Mr. G" to those who cherished him. Marion left this world on July 24, 2025, just shy of his 64th birthday. Born on August 1, 1961, in Adel, Georgia, Marion's journey led him to a life rich in love, adventure, and service.
Marion's roots in Alliance, Ohio, saw him grow from a young boy into a devoted Christian. A proud graduate of Alliance High School, Class of '79, he joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter, serving in Augsburg, Germany, and later in the National Guard. In May 1985, he married his beloved wife, Jonyalah Andrews, and together they built a life of unwavering love that lasted 40 wonderful years.
As a truck driver, Marion wasn't just a driver; he was a storyteller, an adventurer who traveled the globe for 12½ years supporting our military in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti. His last gig before hanging up his boots was as a cook at the Gridiron Gastropub at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where he delighted patrons with his culinary skills.
Marion had an undeniable zest for life, seen in his travels to spectacular places including Spain, Dubai, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kuwait, and Switzerland. He sought out new experiences and loved sharing tales of his travels with friends and family.
As we reflect on his life, we remember Marion not just for his accomplishments, but for the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. His laughter, warmth, and generosity will forever remain in our hearts.
