Marion Leroy Hackerott, 89, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home in San Angelo surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Rev T.J. Shoop-York, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Hackerott was born August 11, 1934 in Natoma, Kansas to Henry Bernard and Julia Charlotte Hackerott, the first of three sons. Marion spent his early years in Osborne, Phillips, and Smith Counties in Kansas.He was a 1953 graduate of Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Kansas, where he met his future wife Hope. Marion married Hope Ilene Locke on July 22, 1956. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2017. To this union were born five children. He served in the US Army and Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963. Marion has been a resident of San Angelo since 1977. He was a baker by trade, working in Smith Center, Kansas, Alva, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After moving to San Angelo he was in charge of manufacturing for Holsum Bakery. Marion was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his four daughters, Deborah Sue Watson and husband, Kelley, Rebecca Jean Lambert and husband, Scott, Angela Fay Low, Toni Jill Byriel and husband Gary; a son, David Henry Hackerott; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. After his retirement Marion spent all of his days with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved deeply. Marion was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman Estes Hackerott, and Neil Lynn Hackerott.
Memorials may be made to San Angelo Salvation Army, 34 W 3rd St., San Angelo, Texas 76903.
