Obituary for Marion Jones III *June 8, 1951 – February 14, 2025* It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Jones III, affectionately known to all as "Brother." He was born on June 8, 1951, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Albertha Jones Knee Joiner and Marion Jones Jr. At the age of one, Marion's family relocated to Philadelphia, where he grew up and attended the Philadelphia school system.
In his early years, Marion proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at multiple duty locations, including a memorable assignment in Turkey. Although Marion transitioned to a career in carpentry and woodworking, he never left the Air Force behind. His service to his country remained a central part of his life, and he carried the pride of his military service with him throughout the years. After leaving the Air Force, Marion found his passion in carpentry. He dedicated the rest of his career to his craft, creating beautiful works with skill and precision. Marion's love for working with his hands was evident to all who knew him, and his craftsmanship left a lasting impression. Marion also had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with those closest to him. His spirit was one of kindness, generosity, and loyalty. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he had for his family and friends.
Marion is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Denise KnightJones (Spotsylvania, VA), his sons Vincent Napper (Patrice), Steven Jones (Wendy), Randy Carter (Marcia), Kevin Howie (Portia), and his daughter Paris Jones and his Stepchildren Antonio Knight (Cassandra) and Nichole Knight. He is also survived by his sisters Eva Jones, Denise Jones Parker, and Teresa Jones, and his brothers Tyrone Jones (Lana), Carl L. Jones (Crystal), and Emerson Jones (Debbie). Additionally, he is survived by his loving mother-in-law, Ethel Bowman, his dear uncle Harold Jones of Pennsylvania, his aunt Ernestine L. Ricks of Kansas City, Kansas, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Albertha Jones Knee Joyner, his father, Marion Jones Jr., and his sister, Ernestine L. Jones Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Agape Life Services, with viewing from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at Quantico National Cemetery.
All funeral services have been entrusted to Agape Life Services, located at 2105 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
