Marion Sutton Maloney

Marion Sutton Maloney, 94, of Roanoke, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was born in Lenoir County, NC, on January 26, 1931 to the late George Hodges Sutton and Ruby Balance Sutton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Russell Maloney.
Mrs. Maloney was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1957. She served faithfully and unselfishly in many capacities, including VBS Director and Sunday School Secretary for 20 years. She was selected as Woman of the Year twice.
Mrs. Maloney volunteered at Community Hospital for more than 20 years.
She will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are her daughters; Linda M. Osborne and husband David of Mableton, GA, Debbie M. Yates and husband Paul of Charlotte, NC, Janet M. Powell and husband Rick of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, David Osborne and wife Cris, Micah Osborne, Katie Todd and husband Steve, Matthew Yates, Derek Yates, Jonathan Powell and wife Erica, Ashleigh Carosella and husband Josh; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Barbara S. Adkins of Mardela Springs, MD, Marjorie S. Evans and husband Jay of Tyler, TX, and Frances Keel of Kinston, NC; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers from Karis Care, Helena, Jenny, Anna, Monique, and Patricia. The family would like to also thank Good Samaritan Hospice, Arianna and Chasity wo cared for Marion during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Good Samaritan Hospice.
Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel. Interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home (540) 366-0707
