Marion "Duddy" Nero, 90, of New Castle passed away the morning of June 19, 2025 at UPMC Jameson Hospital, joining his wife, the love of his life, in Heaven.
Duddy was born in New Castle on February 15, 1935 to the late Patsy and Julia (Santillo) Nero.
Duddy married his beloved wife, the former Darlene R. Ritchie, on June 13, 1959. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2007.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Duddy worked as a roller for Elliot Steel and then later for Colony Builders.
Duddy most enjoyed working with his son for many years at their Pizza Joes in Beaver Falls where he made many friends.
Duddy enjoyed many hobbies including landscaping and wood-working. He served on the Home Street Reunion committee. Duddy cherished the time he spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Dr. Michael) Ferchaw, James Nero, and Allyson (Tom, Jr.) Williamson; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferchaw, Victoria Ferchaw, Gabrielle Nero, James Nero II, Corinne Williamson and Jonathan Williamson, and two great-grandchildren, Carter Ferchaw and Winsley Graham.
Duddy was the last surviving member of his generation in the Nero family. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by all of his siblings; five brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Charles, Benjamin and Alfonso Nero and seven sisters; Teresa Ludovici, Mary Newman, Antoinetta Carbone, Margaret Fontana, Jane Nero, Veronica Nero, and Ann Voras.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirt Parish – St. Vitus Church officiated by Fr. Aaron Kriss. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, Inc. 941 S. Mill St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
