Marion Kathryn Riebe was born March 6, 1931, in Cisco, Texas to Robert Bruce and Annie Laurie Scott. Kathryn graduated peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on May 4, 2022, at the age of 91.
Kathryn grew up in Cisco with her parents, her older sister Betty, and her older brother Buddy. After graduating from Cisco High School, Kathryn worked several jobs including being a telephone operator. While she was an operator she met the love of her life, Jim Riebe. After a few months of dating and engagement the two took off for Carlsbad, New Mexico where they were married on June 1, 1954, and began a beautiful life together that lasted 67 years until Jim’s passing in 2021.
Kathryn was a devoted wife who helped Jim build a thriving State Farm agency in Weatherford, Texas. Music was always an important part of Kathryn’s life and she loved singing in the North Side Baptist Church choir for many years. Her children have fond memories of their mother singing alto in the lady’s quartet at church.
Kathryn was a wonderful mother who served her three children so well even in her final days. She was always ready to jump in to type a term paper or help her kids study for that important test. Most of all, her children saw a great example of a wife who loved and supported her husband every day of their married life.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Jim H. Riebe.
She was survived by her sons J Mark Riebe and wife Debby, Clay Riebe and wife Stacy, and her daughter Kelly Barton and husband Richard. Kathryn is survived by four grandchildren Aarin Tyo and her husband Todd, Jessica Turner and her husband Ryan, Zach Riebe and his wife Hannah, and Caleb Riebe and his wife Laura. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren Addyson, Austin, Kolton, Karlee, Audrey, Grace, and Sam. Kathryn is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Riebe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 11:00am-12:00pm. Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Weatherford, TX.
