Marjorie Ellen Peck Bragdon Chase, 98, passed away on July 15, 2025.
Marjorie was born in Portland, April 14, 1927, the daughter of James Peck and Ruby Davis Peck.
She grew up in South Portland, graduating from South Portland High School in 1944.
June 7, 1947 she married Stewart Bragdon of South Portland and later married Philip Chase of Cumberland Center on June 25, 2011.
Marjorie was the center of her family. She was an efficient homemaker. After caring for her parents and seeing "her girls" moving on, she found herself with an empty nest. It did not take her long to go out and get her first driver's license and CNA certificate. She again worked many years caring for others in a nursing facility and private care. Marjorie enjoyed knitting, needles always in hand making blankets and socks for family members and friends.
She was devout in her faith and dedication to her church, drawing strength from her church community and belief in God her Savior.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her aunt Pearl Davis, daughters; Claudia Bragdon, Lynne Bragdon Delcourt, and Marla Bragdon Duchesne. Marjorie is survived by her daughters; Julie Leavitt and partner Robert Green of Harpswell, Melanie Rutstrom and her husband Dante Rutstrom of Kingsport, TN, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Marjorie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered forever for her candid humor, playful spirit, consistent strength, and strong will.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Avita of Stroudwater for their continuous support and kindness given to Marjorie.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 20th from 5-6pm with Memorial Service to follow at 6pm at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A private burial will be at a later date.
