Marjorie (Margie) McGuire, 96, of Obion, died Thursday, September 12, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving children. Born March 9, 1928, in Cushing, OK, she is the daughter of the late Solon and Ida Cannon Chipman. She was a farmers wife and operated Cloverdale Store and Cafe for 36 years, cooking the best hamburgers anywhere. She attended Zion Methodist Church. Graveside funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery officiated by Reverend Phillip Pinion. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery at 2:45 P.M. Honoring their grandmother, her grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Grant McGuire, Shane Alexander, Brycen Rainey, Garett Rainey, Zachary Woody and Colton Woody. Honorary pallbearers will be her three granddaughters, Shanna Ferguson, JoLinda Gurien, Sandy Edmiston and her devoted sitters, Linda Higgins, Shelley Bell and Pam Contreras. She is survived by her five children, Carolyn Parkinson (Parkie), Patricia Woody, Judy Rainey, Ricky McGuire (Donna), all of Obion, Benny McGuire (Ann) of Hornbeak; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. McGuire, whom she married on February 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2007; two grandchildren, Dusty Alexander, Daryl McGuire; granddaughter-in-law, Paula McGuire; son-in-law, Scott Rainey; great-granddaughter, Maggie Gurien; sister, Virginia Crocker and brother, Harold (Buck) Chipman. The family requests memorials be directed to Cloverdale Community Center, c/o Greg Ervin, 4893 Jim Carver Road, Obion, TN 38240. Funeral services are under the direction of Curry Funeral Home.
