Marjorie June Spragg, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in Rockledge, Florida, at the age of 94.
Born on June 24, 1931, in Alpena, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edwin and Nellie (Strauer) Krebs. Marjorie's life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Marjorie's journey began in Alpena, where she attended and graduated from Alpena High School. Her early years were marked by a deep connection to her community and the Lutheran Church, which would remain a cornerstone throughout her life. On June 14, 1952, she married the love of her life, Arlin Spragg, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena. Their union was a partnership of love and shared values that would endure for 57 years until Arlin's passing on October 17, 2009.
Marjorie was a dedicated secretary, first at Mulvana's in Alpena and later at William and Mary College in Virginia, supporting Arlin during his service with the Navy. While having aspirations of being a teacher, the position of home maker brought her the greatest sense of fulfillment as she loved being a wife and mother.
Marjorie's heart, however, was always with her family. She was a devoted mother to Karen Sue Antoine of
Rockledge, FL, Robert Edwin (Tracy) Spragg, Tamyra Jo (Steve) Baker of
St. Petersburg, FL, and Lori Spragg (Mark) of
Oakwood, GA. Her legacy extends to her 12 grandchildren, Christina, Bradley, Wendy, Jacob, Michael, Lisa, Tyler, Dylan, Dustin, Shelbie, Abby, and Sadie, as well as her 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and cherished.
Her sisters, Norma Battles, Thelma Connolly, and Barbara Schultz, all preceded her in death, but she is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched with her kindness and humor.
Marjorie's interests were a reflection of her love for all God's creation and her commitment to her faith. She and Arlin's home on Hubbard Lake was a haven where they enjoyed bird watching, picking huckleberries, fishing, hiking, rockhounding, and other outdoor activities. While in Florida as snowbirds, they enjoyed being with family and the warm sunny weather. They also enjoyed traveling which included a memorable trip to Alaska on their 50th anniversary highlighting their adventures.
A lifelong Lutheran, Marjorie was deeply involved in church activities, from the Luther League to church women's groups, teaching Sunday and Bible School for many years, and singing in the choir. Her faith was further expressed through her participation in two Billy Graham Crusades. Known for her sense of humor and true devotion to our Lord Jesus, Marjorie's faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Funeral services for Marjorie will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
