Mark Daniel Almas, of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away on October 10, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with brain cancer. Initially diagnosed with Astrocytoma in 2009, he was later diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) in 2013 and given a prognosis of just over 12 months. He went on to live more than 12 years-proving his conviction from the beginning that statistics are not in control; the Lord is.
As a Creative Director in the field of Graphic Design, Mark brought imagination, style, and vision to every project he touched. His work reflected not only his skill but his passion for creating something meaningful, leaving a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike.
In those extra years, Mark continued working, traveling, and supporting various ministries, most notably Hosea Initiative. He also published a book, No Change, chronicling his battle with the disease. And by the grace of God, he saw graduation and wedding milestones, along with the news that his first granddaughter was on the way. Along the way came a long, slow decline, a debilitating bout with COVID, and eventually the return of GBM. True to his independent spirit, and weary of his earthly body, he declined further treatment and enrolled in hospice, facing the end with courage and full trust in his faith in Christ.
Mark is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Steel) Almas; their sons, Max (Phoebe) and Zachary (Olivia); and at least one grandchild who will one day hear the improbable tale of how long he managed to keep going.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any ministry of your choice that shares the Gospel. Because that's what Mark cared about most: that others would come to know the Savior who gave him strength, purpose, and peace.
