It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark Alan Brown, a cherished father, devoted husband, and beloved grandfather, who left this world on November 28, 2025, at the age of 74. Mark was born on June 19, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to his parents Claude Stanley and Jean Lavonne (Hutchinson) Brown.

Mark graduated in 1969 from Decatur Central High School, where he not only excelled academically but also left an indelible mark on the football field, earning a place in the Hall of Fame. His passion for learning led him to further his studies at Butler University.

For over three decades, Mark dedicated himself to the trucking industry, first as a valued driver at Mutual Pipe and Supply for 25 years, and later with Vitran for a decade, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Upon retiring in 2014, Mark continued to exemplify dedication through his commitment to family and community, by attending Camby Community Church.

An avid golfer, Mark found joy in the game that mirrored his approach to life-filled with enthusiasm, spirit, and a touch of competitive charm. He was known for his caring nature and a delightful stubbornness that revealed his unwavering dedication to those he loved. His family was his pride, and he made it a point to be present in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Brown, six children: Scott Brown (Elizabeth), Brooke Jackson (Chad), Kelly Ivey (Don), Richard Rackley Jr. (Stephanie), Jason Rackley, and Robbin Campbell (Mark). He also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Ashley Tomchick (Josh), Christopher Brown (Jazmyn), Rayvin Birdwell, Fynley Jackson, Richard "DJ" Rackley III, Donnie Ivey (Chelsea), Morgan Ivey, Mariah Campbell, and Mikayla Campbell; as well as five precious great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Oliver, Emmett, Charlie, and Remi. He will be missed by his brothers, Claude Brown (Anita) and David Brown (Brenda).

Mark is preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Jo Brown; granddaughter, Alison Rackley; and sister, Dawn Hoskins.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 2nd and from 11 am to 12 pm on Wednesday, December 3rd at Jones Crossing Banquet and Event Center in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, December 3rd at the Banquet Center. Mark will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.

As we reflect on Mark's remarkable journey, we remember a life characterized by kindness, resilience, and a profound love for his family that will continue to inspire us all. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forward his legacy of love and togetherness.
