Mark Steven Corona, age 63 of Alvin, Texas, is now in the loving arms of Jesus in heaven. Mark passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at HCA Clear Lake Hospital surrounded by his family. Mark was born on February 21, 1962 in Fort Hood, Texas, and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mark loved his Catholic faith and collected Catholic religious items, such as crosses and pictures of Jesus and the Saints. He had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Mark enjoyed camping trips with family and traveling in the RV to places like Mount Rushmore, Big Bend, Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings in New Mexico, Durango, Colorado, the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota, and the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. He visited places like The White House, Graceland, Gettysburg, and New York City. He especially loved riding the New York subways. Mark loved superheroes, and his favorite is Superman and Wonder Woman. He loved to pass his time by coloring in his superhero coloring books. Mark also loved watching Scooby Doo cartoons and especially loved his Scooby Doo plush toy which he carried with him everywhere. He loved animals; the family pets throughout the years were Leo, Lilly, Tiffany, Sammy, Bubbles, Pepper, and especially Chico. He enjoyed being together with family at all the special gatherings, especially making annual tamales for Christmas. He enjoyed riding a yellow mini bike in his teen years. Mark participated in the Special Olympics, where he won medals and trophies in bowling. Mark had an extensive collection of souvenir keychains that he started collecting while on family road trips. Through the years, family and friends would add to his keychain collection, and he was always happy to receive one and learn about a new place.
Mark is survived by his parents, Manuel and Leonora Corona, sisters, Elizabeth Montgomery and husband Jeff, Kathryn Figueroa and husband Rene, brother John Corona, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mark attended Ability Beyond Disability, a day program for Special Needs adults. The family would especially like to thank John Thompson and Chantal Hite. We'd also like to thank Charles Eppler and all the wonderful staff there. Donations in Mark's memory may be made to Ability Beyond Disability, 108 E Shadowbend, Friendswood, TX 77546.
