Boardman - Mark Edward Guthridge, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Emergency Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 6, 1962, in Youngstown, Ohio, Mark was the son of the late John and Jean (Sweeney) Guthridge. A 1980 graduate of Boardman High School, he remained a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

Mark worked as an auto mechanic for several shops throughout the area before becoming service manager for Saturn of 422 in Niles. When Saturn expanded to Boardman, he took over as service department manager there as well. He later shared his knowledge and passion for cars as an instructor at New Castle School of Trades, teaching auto repair to the next generation of technicians.

A follower of Christ, Mark loved music-especially playing his guitar and attending concerts-and was an avid fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Mark also enjoyed golfing and treasured vacations with his family at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.

More than anything, Mark was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was proud of his family, especially his sons' military service in the U.S. Air Force and Army.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lori L. (Smith) Guthridge, whom he married on May 27, 1989; three sons, Mark V. (Jackie) Guthridge of Canonsburg, PA, Ian M. (Molly) Guthridge of El Paso, TX, and Adam M. Guthridge of Youngstown, OH; a cherished grandson, Brooks Guthridge; and his two beloved cats, Two Sox and Carl. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, John Guthridge.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Church of Genesis, 303 N. Cedar Street, New Castle, PA. A memorial service celebrating Mark's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Damian Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mark's memory to the Animal Charity Humane Society, 8469 Southern Blvd., Building #3, Youngstown, OH 44514.

Mark's final act of kindness was the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
