Mark Duane Harrison, 66, of Wilkinson passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at his residence. On April 11, 1958, he was born in Franklin, IN a son of Beryl and Rovena (Sweaney) Harrison.

Respectful, high energy, meticulous, caregiver, always knew where you stood but with a kind loving heart is just a few ways to describe Mark. He would do anything for anybody especially if the situation was respectful. He made time to help others when he did not have time. Mark helped lots of inspiring racers and children along with their families at the race track. Whether it was getting their kart running or helping them make their start into racing; he was for the underdog and wanted to help fathers help their children win. If you were respectful and needed help, he was willing. He helped his own daughter win while showing calves in 4-H. He had the diet down to a science and she won Grand Champion at the Hancock County Fair in 2002. He was known to distribute tough love but that was just Mark’s way and it worked.

Mark was very good at his job and loved every minute. Everyone wanted Mark to build their engines. Since 1985, Mark has been employed with Comet Kart Sales in Greenfield. Everything Mark did was done well and he was very meticulous. If he didn’t know how to fix or do something he would figure it out or call a friend; with lots of friends, he had a guy for every situation.

Probably the most commendable attribute of Mark’s life was his willingness to fulfill his obligation to God and his wife. For the past two years, Mark has been a loving caregiver to his wife, Karen. He stood by her side every step of the way. In his free time, Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, INDY Car, Formula One, and spending time in his property in Brown County. Most importantly, Mark enjoyed his grandchildren by being involved or checking in on their activities. They held the ability to melt away some of Mark’s “tough love.” He was 1976 graduate of Franklin Central High School.

In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen (Wisehart) Harrison of Wilkinson; daughter, Kara (Brad) Overton of Greenwood; grandchildren, Graham and Reese Overton; brothers, Doug (Myla) Harrison and Randy Harrison both of Fortville; sister-in-law, Terri (Allen) Collier of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 6, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Allen Collier officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Friday. You may express condolences or share memories of Mark at www.hinsey-brown.com.
