Mark Edward Horton, 67, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital surrounded by family. He was born January 20, 1959 in Evansville to the late Edna (Walden) and Donald E. Horton, Sr.

Mark graduated from Southridge High School in 1977. He did many years of factory work and later became a licensed plumber in Evansville for Accurate Plumbing. Mark attended CrossPointe Trinity Church. He was an avid basketball fan and was a coach and mentor for many youth leagues. Mark was devoted to his family and treasured the time he spent with them. Like his mother, Mark had a special love for dogs, especially his beloved sidekick, Benny.

Mark is survived by his longtime companion and mother of his children, Rita Burress; daughters, Kayla Horton and Nicole (Treyce) Horton; sons, Ricky Burress, Jr., Jason Burress, Markus "Chris" Horton and Andrew "Jake" Horton; 13 grandchildren; sister, Debbie (Dale) Brown; brothers, Terry Horton and Don (Sherri) Horton, Jr.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Duane Allison officiating.
