Mark S. Kimmel

ATHOL- Mark S. Kimmel, 77, of Ridge Road, died on Tuesday morning, September 30, 2025 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.

Born in Fitchburg on May 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Eunice (Rosen) Kimmel and grew up in Fitchburg, graduating from Fitchburg High School in 1966. Mark later graduated from Boston University in 1970.

In 1987, Mark married Lynda (Watson) and have enjoyed 38 years of marriage.

Mark worked for Wood's Ambulance in Gardner for 15 years as a medical emergency dispatcher before retiring. He previously had worked as a dispatcher for the Ashburnham Fire and Police Departments, as well as being the Civil Defense Director for the City of Fitchburg.

Mark was a HAM radio operator and enjoyed playing the drums.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda Kimmel of Athol; sons, Jeffrey Kimmel and his wife Jacquelyn of Athol, Aaron Kimmel and his wife Meghan of Stoneham, and Joseph Kimmel of Marlborough. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ian Kimmel of Fitchburg, Elijah Kimmel of Athol, Benjamin Kimmel and Samuel Kimmel, both of Stoneham; a great grandson, Emmett Kimmel of Fitchburg; a niece, Ellen Kimmel of North Palm Beach, FL; and a nephew, Barry Kimmel of Leominster.

Besides his parents, Mark was predeceased by a brother, Howard Kimmel.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
