Mark Douglas Lake, 71, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 12:28 pm January 16, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born June 8, 1953 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Leo and Beulah (McKinney) Lake. Mark married Mary Ann Lake on August 26, 1978 and she survives.
In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Mark is survived by his children, Jonathan Lake and special friend, Amber Payne of Mount Vernon, Jamie Miller and husband, Eric of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Tami Hiatt and husband John III of Mount Vernon; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul McKinney and wife, Linda of Grays Lake, Illinois, Neal Lake and wife, Gemmy of Evans, Georgia, Sandy Thornton and husband, Roger of Champaign, Illinois, and Lena Goodin of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his son, Chris Campbell; two brothers; and one sister.
Mark proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. Mark was a chemist for Continental Tire until his retirement in 2015. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, devoted father, treasured grandfather, dear brother, and friend to many.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Kent Jackson officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home.
