Mark Wayne Preusser, 69, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
Mark was born November 19, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, to Nelson V. and Marian E. Popp Preusser. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. He and Mary Lou Gilliland were married June 16, 1990. They had been married only 13 years when Mary Lou passed away July 14, 2013.
Mark was a 1974 graduate of Jackson High School. After earning a degree in art from Southeast Missouri State University, he honorably served as a Sargent in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Cape Girardeau.
For enjoyment, he worked Sudoku puzzles, frequented Burger King, and faithfully watched Cardinals Baseball.
Loving survivors include a step-daughter, Pam Combs Messerli of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Steve (Shirley) Preusser and Jeff (Karen) Preusser of Jackson, Dan (late Diana) Preusser of Union, Missouri; step-grandchildren, Paige Messerli, Sydney (Stephen) Braun and Bennett Braun; nephews and nieces: Seth (Crystal) Preusser, Zachary (Cheyenne) Preusser, Kirby (Bailey) Preusser, Mary (Kevin) Carvalho, Daniel Bono; great-nieces and great-nephews, Riley, Sadie, Tatum, and August Preusser.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown. The Rev. Virgil Kelm will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation.
