Mark Allen Thacker, 70 of Martinsville, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Martinsville, Indiana, on Friday, November 6th, 1953, to the late Ralph Thacker and Darlene (Tackett).
Mark spent his entire life in Martinsville and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #230. He was also a member of the Carpenter's Union for many years, working at various companies including Circle B and Indy Walls, both in Indianapolis.
Aside from carpentry work, Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking.
He is survived by his son, Josh (wife, Steffanie) Thacker of Martinsville; daughter, Tina (husband, Rusty) Miller of Bloomington, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Christian, Ethan, and Samantha Thacker, Anderson, Ashlyn, Timothy and Florence Chapell, Brennan Couch, Ashlyn DeWitt, Kimmy Wrestler, Dylan Steinsberger, and Hannah and Ryan Miller; and three great grandchildren, Alijah and Addison DeWitt and Vitalia Johnson.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Thacker; mother, Darlene McDaniel; and sister, Cheryl Fluke.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville.
Mark's children honored his wishes and his earthly remains have been cremated.
