With great sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Mark Wildey who left this earth to be with Jesus on September 3rd 2024. He is survived by: his wife, Laura, of almost 52 years, his four daughters, Trista, Anne, Joy, Margot, three sons in love, John, Jesse, Dean, eight grandchildren Rylynn, Tyler, Kaya, Carter, Macy, Gavin, Deacon, Easton, his sister Susan, her husband, Ed, and niece and nephew, Matt and Sara.
Mark was born on August 14,1952, in Redwood City, California, to Peggy and Ed Wildey. They moved to Colorado during his childhood and Mark remained here until his death. He graduated from Hinkley High School in Aurora in 1970. He met the love of his life, Laura, in 1971; they were married in 1972. In that same year, he started working in communications for the Aurora Fire Department and left Aurora Fire as the Director of Communications in 1996. He then spent 6 years at West Metro Fire Department as their Director of Communications. During his time there, he earned his certificate of Wildland Firefighting which was quite an achievement at his age. He transferred to the private sector until he retired in 2018.
The most pivotal moment in his life occurred in January of 1976 when he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He had many passions including watercolor painting, fishing, being in the mountains, cycling, racquetball, cooking and sharing great meals with friends and spending time with family, to name a few. But his greatest passions were in ministry. He taught Sunday School, led youth groups, and life groups. He poured himself into men's ministries, marriage mentoring, and bible studies. He was intentional in his relationships with friends and family, leaving a lasting legacy.
He will be greatly missed.
His Celebration of Life Service will be on October 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church 9650 Jordan Road, Parker, CO 80134.
