Mark B. Woodruff, 75 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Corewell Health Trenton Hospital.
Born February 8, 1949, in Monroe, Mark was the son of the late John M. and Shirley M. (Brenton) Woodruff. Mark was a 1967 graduate of Monroe High School and received his associate's degree in applied science from Monroe County Community College.
Mark served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty from October 19, 1967 to August 25, 1970. He continued his service as a reservist for another 14 years.
On October 21, 1995, Mark married his beloved wife, the former Jean L. Champagne, in Monroe.
Mark was employed by Michigan Bell, now AT&T, from which he retired on March 1, 2001 as an Installation Quality Auditor.
Mark has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1963. His other memberships include, Moose Lodge #884, Marine Corps League Detachment 157 in Monroe, American Legion Post in Monroe, DNR, Recreation Safety County Coordinator, Civil Air Patrol, Monroe County Rod and Gun Club, 4H Shooting Sports Association in Monroe, and the Eastern Michigan Arabian Horse Association. Mark enjoyed: flying and was a private pilot, woodworking, leather work, and spending time at his cabin in northern Michigan, where he enjoyed deer hunting. He was also a fan of the Detroit Red Wings. Most of all Mark enjoyed time spent with family.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jean, two loving children: Dean M. DeBlair of Carleton and Jeffrey R. (Michelle) DeBlair of Newport, five cherished grandchildren: Dylan, Trevor, Taylor, and Reegan DeBlair, and Taelor (Lonnie) Weisenstein, two cherished great grandchildren: Bentley and Kash Weisenstein, and his sister, Laura L. Woodruff of Kalamazoo.
In addition to his parents Mark was preceded in death by his brother Scot.
In keeping with Mark's wishes cremation has been held.
On Saturday, January 25, 2025 memorial visitation will be held at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, beginning at 11:00 am, where at 1:00 pm the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors followed by a memorial service celebrating Mark's life. Rev. John Carrier will officiate.
