To provide for himself, Zohn worked as a heavy equipment operator for Salenbien Trucking in Dundee, Michigan for more than ten years before retiring in 2022. Zohn loved watching major league baseball and rooting for his beloved Detroit Tigers. He also spent countless hours fishing for bass at Lake Monroe the former France Stone Quarry.
Zohn Michael Surber, age 65, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday; July 23, 2025. His passing was preceded by his mother: Betty Jo Surber on December 21, 2018; his paternal and maternal grandparents: Howard Sr. and Cleva Surber and Emory and Pearl Willis; and several aunts and uncles.
To cherish Zohn's memory, he leaves his father: Howard Surber Jr.; a sister: Penny (Lonnie) Gordon of LaSalle, Michigan; and two nieces: Callie Gordon of Dundee, Michigan and Hannah Gordon of Monroe, Michigan.
No public services are planned at this time. Zohn's care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway; Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
