Marko V. Zeko, known affectionately as Mark by his loved ones and friends, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on January 8, 2026, in
Dripping Springs, Texas. Born on May 15, 1937, in New York City, Mark lived an extraordinary life filled with laughter, love, and a sense of community that touched many. He was a man whose presence was as significant as the city he hailed from, and his legacy will be cherished by all who knew him. Mark's journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to his family. He was a loving husband to his wife of 66 years, Genevieve Zeko, and a guiding light to his children, Dean, Ken, and Janine, as well as their spouses, Pamela, Heidi, and Drew. His role as a grandfather to Kylie, Tatum, Jack, Sarah, Kyle, and Aubrey was one he relished with joy and pride. Mark's family circle extended to his brothers Fehmi and Freddie, who preceded him in death, and his sister, Shani Miglio, who was beside him as he slipped away. As his children, grandchildren, and others had expressed to him often over the years, Mark was an incredible son, sibling, spouse, friend, father and grandfather!
Professionally, Mark dedicated 35 years of his life to American Airlines, where he became a well-respected international presence. He was not only a valued employee but also a friend and mentor to many within the industry. His ability to forge lifelong friendships extended beyond American Airlines, embracing colleagues from other airlines as well. Mark's professional life was a testament to his exceptional work ethic and his innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Mark was a proud first-generation Albanian American who never forgot his roots on the lower East Side of New York City. His devotion to his friends was unmatched; he maintained lifelong bonds with his childhood companions-Mikey, Petey, Davie, Sonny, Ralphie, and Paulie. As the last of this proud group, Mark honored their memories and the shared experiences that shaped their lives until his final days. Those who knew Mark can attest to his vibrant personality-funny, friendly, and loving. He was the greatest storyteller, weaving tales that captivated his audience and left them with smiles and warm hearts. His passion and fierceness in life were evident in everything he did, from standing up for what he believed in to ensuring his family felt his unwavering support.
Mark's absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life's story, filled with humor, companionship, and an enduring love for his family, will continue to inspire those he has left behind. As we bid farewell to Marko V. Zeko, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched. Rest in peace, Mark; your memory will be a beacon of joy and love for generations to come.
