Lakeview-Marlene Jean Boomer, age 89, of Lakeview passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her daughter's home. She was born in Greenville on March 30, 1934, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Rasmussen) Olsen. Marlene was raised in Greenville before the family moved to Trufant, where she attended Lakeview High School, graduating with the Class of 1952. On October 29, 1955, Marlene married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Boomer in Trufant. She then spent her time as a busy mother to four children and a farm wife. Marlene was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed putting on large meals for the farm hands during harvest season. She loved music, especially playing the piano, either by ear or with sheet music. Marlene played for many special events, church services and in her younger years at Danish dances. She was a long-time member of the Disciples of Christ.
Marlene will forever be missed and is survived by her children, Sueann (Joe) Unger of Lakeview, Kathy (Jerry) Martin of Harrison, Richard "Rich" Boomer of Lakeview, Christian (Kim) Boomer of Trufant; grandchildren, Dana Hooker, Marissa Kettler, Janel Munsell, Joey Unger, Lyndsey Huffman, April Nofzinger, Holly Alexander, RK Boomer, Drake Boomer, Kameron Boomer, Brooklyn Boomer; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry Bristol of Gowen; sister-in-law, Cynthia Boomer of Gowen; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Boomer; parents, Albert and Edith; daughter-in-law, Pamela Boomer; infant grandson, Nathaniel Wandel; sister, Doris (Sidney) Gallagher; brother, Harold (Esther) Olsen; and sister-in-law, Carol Bristol.
A celebration of Marlene's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Dave Perry officiating. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
