Marlene A. Jaramillo, of Bay City, Texas, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024. She was born on May 8, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Vicente and Primitiva Cabasa of Waimanalo, Hawaii. Her smile and vibrant personality will forever be missed by family Members and close friends.
Marlene, known as Mel to family and friends, grew up in Hawaii where she met her husband of 43 years, Hector Jaramillo, who was Stationed there in the military. After they were married they moved to Bay City where she worked for the City of Bay City for almost 30 years. She loved her job at the Parks and Recreation Department and enjoyed meeting people and being outdoors.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for over 20 Years and was a volunteer for the church for many years before becoming ill with lung and autoimmune disease.
Marlene loved cooking and baking and was always thinking of new ways to season foods and try out new ideas. She also loved working on her plants after retiring.
She is survived by her husband Hector Jaramillo, her sister Elizabeth in Waimanalo, Hawaii. Her legacy of love and strength continues through her sons Justin, Randy and Jesse of Bay City. Her spirit is inside of seven beautiful grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered for her smiles, laughter and taking "picha".
