Marlene M. (Lisiecki) Kaplon, 90 years old, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her residence in New Carlisle.
Marlene was born on May 25, 1934, in New Carlisle to the late Chester and Monica (Mackowski) Lisiecki. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Bader-Gozzola; grandchildren, Rodney Harris and Nicole Kaplon; daughter-in-law, Nancy Kaplon; and sisters, Marcella Nowicki and Georgianna Lisiecki.
Left to cherish their memory of Marlene is her loving husband of 70 years, Edmund Kaplon; son, Kevin Kaplon; grandchildren, Brian Harris, Lynn (James) Fisher, Jamie (Josh) Friesen, Eric (Miranda) Bader, Julie Gozzola, Andrea (Jeremy) Bolton and Melissa (Cameron) Seibert; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Trevor and Faith Fisher, Olivia and Alexis Friesen, Lily and Lucy Bader, and Maddox, Eli and Jonah Bolton; and sons-in-law, James Gozzola and Dale Bader.
Marlene was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle. She graduated from South Bend Catholic School and worked as an operator for Ameritech for 40 years before retiring in 1995, while also being a farmer's wife at home.
Marlene was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Rosary Society. She was also a member of PNA#3078.
Marlene loved playing cards, dominos and working in her garden. She also collected teddy bears and salt and pepper shakers, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made sure to give out $2 bills to them for their birthdays and other special events. Marlene will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Marlene will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, with an hour of visitation held prior, all at St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with a funeral luncheon to follow the committal.
