Marlene Nerat, Green Bay, died Tuesday, January 21 at age 89.
Marlene was born to Charles and Louise (Sibilsky) Zehren in 1935 in Green Bay, Wis. Youngest of six children, she loved being surrounded by family as she grew up in Green Bay attending St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dances at the Bay Beach pavilion and summer vacations on the Algoma lakeshore at her grandparents with cousins.
Marlene was a 1953 graduate of Green Bay West High School. She was married to James G. Williquette for 25 years and raised five children, starting in Green Bay and then moving out to the country-a farmhouse in Suamico. There she became active in the community, helping establish the Suamico Park and Recreation Department as a founding member.
Marlene took pride in her professional career and worked as a purchasing agent for O & E Machine Company.
Marlene treasured summer weekends with her beloved family at her sister's cottage on Berry Lake. She enjoyed countless hours at sporting events in support of her children and grandchildren.
In 1985 she married Edward Nerat at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Suamico where they were members. With so many things in common, they were the perfect match.
Marlene enjoyed golfing, bowling, the casino, and was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. She and Ed enjoyed an early retirement together wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pensacola, Florida, where they enjoyed friends, golfing, dining, and museums. She even scored a hole-in-one at Pensacola Municipal Golf Course.
Marlene will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to family, for being a strong and loving matriarch, her joyful sense of humor, and for sharing her gifts for bringing family together for every holiday and special occasion-at which she seldom lost a game of dice.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son James C. Williquette; daughter Wendy Williquette; sisters and brothers-in-law Vi (Herbert) Staehly, Lillian (Les) Allen, and Ethel (Robert) Ellingson; her brothers and sisters-in-law John (Marianne) Zehren, and Ralph (Gertrude) Zehren; and nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Teresa Williquette, De Pere; three of her children and their spouses: Mike (Nancy) Williquette, Suamico, Mary (Clarence) Mansfield, Sweet Home, Ore., and Susan Zuelke, Suamico; step-daughter Linda and her two children; step-son Peter; seven grandchildren: Nicole (Cem) Zengin, Jacob (Chelsey) Williquette, Rachel Williquette (John Harrison), Kelton Hatton, Ella (Everett) Schroeder, Matthew (Sarah) Williquette, and Vanessa Zuelke; great-grandchildren: Okan and Altan Zengin, Jordan Williquette and Kyler Kubec, Bronson, Gia, and Vayda Harrison, Dora and Brooke Schroeder, Graham Williquette, and Nina Zuelke; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay. Relatives and friends may call 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:30 am. Memorial donations to https://www.alz.org are welcomed in lieu of flowers.
