Marlene K. Oster, age 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday August 17, 2025, with her family by her side. Born on April 14th 1943, she was a lifelong resident of Canton Ohio and a 1961 graduate of Canton South High School. A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great- Grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years and the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Oster, infant daughter Shelley Oster, parents William and Josephine Haney, beloved son-in-law Darrin Newman, and her sister Judy Bolon.

Upon the untimely death of her husband Bob, Marlene became the Owner and President of Oster Enterprises, an entirely new role for her that she approached with strength and determination. She had tremendous pride in the Company and the valued employees. She enjoyed working and remained in that position until her passing.

Her most enjoyment however, was in spending time with her family. She attended countless sporting events, school programs, and various activities supporting her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and relished every moment of it. She especially enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and was always concerned that wherever she lived, that there would be enough room for everyone. Weekends at the lake, Birthday parties, family vacations, her happiness was in sitting back and watching her family having fun together. In her words, in speaking of her very large, very busy family, "They keep me young."

Although she will be terribly missed, the family finds great comfort in knowing she is reunited with Bob, whom she has missed for 38 years.

Marlene is survived by her children, Julie (Rod) Priebe, Valerie Newman, Scott (Tricia) Oster and Brian (Amy) Oster. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Jared (Megan) Chevraux, Jordan (Mallory) Chevraux, Jake (Hillarie) Chevraux, Jessa (Kelly) Clark, Nicole (Mani) Gill, Logan Newman, Samantha Newman, Camryn Oster, Katelyn Oster, Carly Oster, Robert Oster, Brayton Oster, Justin Oster, 12 great grandchildren, and brother, Aaron Haney.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday August 26, 2025, at Christ the Servant Parish in Canton. Friends and Family may call on Monday August 25, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Rossi Family Funeral Home.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the family and friends who have provided prayers and support, to her wonderful caregivers at home, and to the Cleveland Clinic Mercy ICU team for keeping her comfortable in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) or The Wounded Warriors Project.
