James F. "Jim" Massengale

James F. Massengale, age 93, passed away on October 8, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1932 to the late Alexander and Kathryn Massengale. A graduate of Spalding Institute in Peoria, IL, he later attended Kent State University. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and became a member of the Active Reserve. He retired from the Hoover Company after 40 years of employment as a Millwright.
Jim was a proud volunteer fireman for the Edgefield and Plain Township Fire Departments, where he served time as the secretary and chaplain. He was a member of the North Canton AERIE 2223, F.O.E for over 30 years, also serving many positions throughout his time – president, secretary, and past state and zone officer.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan "Mouse" Massengale, infant sister Mary Massengale. and great-granddaughter Hadley.
He is survived by his sons James (Ginger) Massengale, Jr., Michael (Vicki) Massengale; grandchildren Heather Massengale, Morgan (Rich Tanski) Massengale, Zach (Jesse) Massengale; great-grandchildren Savannah, Campbell Rose, and April.
The family would like to thank the Assisted Living staff at Chapel Hill Community for the care they provided to Jim.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 17th from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 12 noon at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Very Reverend Dr. David Misbrener, D. Min., celebrant. Interment in St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.
